Is Being Constantly Creative Possible?

IS CONSTANT CREATIVITY POSSIBLE IN A NOISY DIGITAL WORLD?

So much of our culture is imitation.  The generic nature of franchises, sequels and stereotypes can zap us of our MOJO.  It's as if creativity is a rare, weird, random trait mostly possessed by artists who are already dead. People just re-post and repeat life daily. So is the MUSE just a fleeting romantic notion or can we shack up with her as our permanent roommate.  It’s not easy but luring and keeping the Muse at the kitchen table, the desk, the studio bench or the stage is possible.  IT’S JUST NOT EASY. But I am doing it so I know you can too. That’s why I literally wrote the book on it. I am concerned about living in a dull world with boring repetitiveness and predictability as the conformist norm. So I need you.

The first step to this is that we have to learn to create a life design that protects us from any harm and increases our fuel to be motivated.  It helps to have a clear commitment and conviction to what is at the source of our choices. For me after many decades of experimenting, there is only one answer large enough to guide all aspects of my life: LOVE.  If you want to attract and keep the MUSE you have to LOVE what you are doing and do it with great love.

That may sound very broad and a little too large of an idea to be helpful - but I have come up with a simple but defining test in the form of ONE QUESTION to help guide you.

So, what is it that you want? What do you want that you don’t have? Who are you not being that you want to be?

Before you commit to do anything in future, I want you to ask yourself one question: “Would love ask this of me?”  In other words, operate your life from a place of loving intention. Don’t do things out of fear, insecurity, greed, habit, jealousy or guilt.  Each day make an intention to be more loving in your work.  If you want to do a project or anyone asks you to do something, before you commit ask yourself this question.

You have to start living from a full body “HELL YES”.   Do you want to write a book?  Maybe. Then don’t bother. You’re not ready.  Constant creativity requires you to know you and know what you want. Until then, keep exploring your options.

If the request is not loving, say NO.  if you don’t LOVE the project you are about to embark on then STOP.  One of the ways is “Stop Settling”.  Doing things that bore, hurt, harm or limit you or any other living being is a certain way to kill your creative drive.  A life weaved of intentional days makes for a beautiful tapestry of existence.

It’s easy to look around our society and question if we are on the right track or not. If you need assurance, you’re not alone.  No creative life comes without some insecurity, confusion or concerns. We are not robots, being human gives us our humanity.   Our humanity allows us to create, to comfort and to have compassion.  By being your best self daily, we make the world automatically better.

Being vibrant, heathy, energetic and caring allows us to create in ways never imagined before. This book is about you being free of the noise in your head and the world.  It’s about you embracing your unique, original and bold self. This book is an invitation to re-wild your life and break the bonds of failing institutions and ideas.  It may take people awhile to adjust to this high voltage version of you and some won’t be able to stay at your level anymore.  Try to be flexible and allow changes to meander through your world.

Creative people have no interest in destructing but know they must disrupt the narrative of mediocrity.  The more I create, the less I destruct or consume.  When I am proactive and engaged my MOJO fuels me.  The MOJO meter is just a way to measure direction and see if we are on track just like a compass. When we get off track we need to re-direct and navigate our way to our true North.   There is no greater freedom than to be safe within our own skin.  You are an original, authentic, beautiful and fascinating mystery.  Enjoy exploring that reality.

So, what is it you really want?  I want you to have what you want. I want you to be clear and secure so that it is a good choice for you and for the world. If nothing else, at least don’t harm yourself or anyone else.  Be free of the burden of regret. Be free of the illusion that you need to be anyone other than who you are right here and now. Be free of expectation. Be free to shine brighter than ever before. Be free to experience the rapture of being loving. I want you to be absolutely, incredibly, authentically and unbelievably you.

Now, your work is to work on your work. Whatever that might be…. wherever that may take you. Journey on, my friend.  Let me know how things are on the path.  I love to hear from you.  And if you have the book already, let me know how it is working for you.

Much love and MOJO,

Write on.
